CSS House maintenance

The Catholic Students Society of UiTM (CSSSA) was formed more than 25 years ago by a group of Catholic students, mainly from Sabah and Sarawak who were studying in Shah Alam.

It started out with a few members and gradually grew through the years with the guidance of an assigned chaplain from St Francis Xavier Church, under the Campus Ministry Team and with the help of Ms Monica Ch’ng as an advisor cum coordinator for the society.

During its early years, the society had no place to hold meetings and activities. Thus, Fr Christopher Wee and Ms Monica managed to persuade the Bishop of Miri, Anthony Lee to purchase a bungalow located at No 15, Jalan Bunga Melati 2/2, Seksyen 2, Shah Alam. The bungalow was later named “Santa Maria Villa.”

Santa Maria Villa had since functioned as a place where CSSUiTM members can meet to organize spiritual activities for its members. The house is occupied by 11 people and each is required to pay RM110 per month, excluding utilities. The tenants are in-charge with the up-keeping of the house as well as the preparation and the organization of the weekly masses in the house. Therefore, all the tenants are EXCO members of the society.

Ever since its existence, numerous activities had been held such as masses, weekly spiritual programme called Friday-In-Togetherness (FIT) and talks by religious speakers.

In addition, most of the students occupying and visiting the house are from Sabah and Sarawak. The house functions as a “home-away-from-home” for these students where fellowship and brother/sisterhood are strengthened.

The house is about 15 years old and is really run-down. Firstly, the leakage either from the roof or the water tank needs to be repaired. Then we need to replace all broken roof boards.

The house also needs a new coat of paint. At the same time, minor repairs are needed such as the toilets and door hinges are broken. Seeing that a big sum of money is needed, your generous help is very much needed to help pay for the repairs. The Society is appealing to all its graduates from UiTM for cash contribution for the repairs and maintenance of CSS house.

For more information and those who wish to donate can contact Ms Monica Ch’ng, through her email isabellachng@yahoo.com or sms to 019-3498908.

Sincere thanks to those who are going to contribute to this fund.

ROSARY MONTH

October is the month in which Mary, Most Holy Queen of the Holy Rosary, is venerated.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

1. We are already on the threshold of the month of October, which, with the liturgical memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, inspires us to rediscover this traditional prayer, so simple yet so profound.

The Rosary is a way of contemplating the face of Christ seeing him - we may say - with the eyes of Mary. For this reason, it is a prayer that drawing upon the core of the Gospel is in full accord with the inspiration of the Second Vatican Council and very much in keeping with the direction I gave in the Apostolic Letter Novo Millennio ineunte: the Church has to launch out "into the deep" in the new millennium beginning with the contemplation of the face of Christ.

Therefore, I wish to suggest the recitation of the Rosary to individuals, families and Christian communities. To give force to this invitation, I am preparing a document which will help to rediscover the beauty and depth of this prayer.

2. I wish once again to entrust the great cause of peace to the praying of the Rosary. We are facing an international situation that is full of tensions, at times threatening to explode. In some parts of the world, where the confrontation is harsher - I think particularly of the suffering land of Christ - we can realize that, even though they are necessary, political efforts are worth little if one remains exacerbated in his mind and no one cares to demonstrate a new disposition of heart in the hope of reviving the struggle and effort of dialogue.

Who but God alone can infuse such sentiments? It is more necessary than ever that from every part of the earth prayer for peace be made to Him. In this perspective, the Rosary turns out to be the form of prayer most needed. It builds peace because, while it appeals to the grace of God, it sows in the one praying it the seed of good from which we can expect the fruit of justice and solidarity for personal and community life.

I am thinking of nations and also of families. How much peace would flow into family relationships if the family would begin again to pray the Rosary.

John Paul II greeted the pilgrims in French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Italian.
To the English-speaking

So, we at CSS too conducted Rosary prayer during the month of October at CSS House starts at 8.00pm.

Family Day is ON.

HELLoW EVERYBODY,

So, what’s up on this Raya holiday? Study? Oh ya, exam is a couple of weeks ahead kan. Takkan study only, let’s relax for a while and go out, creativity doesn’t bloom in your room, aisehman macam lirik Avril pula. But, ya, we need a time to relax and play, because there’s a time for everything.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

See, there's a time for everything.

So CSS-SA is organizing a FAMILY DAY, an activity where we can have a time for laugh, dance, embrace, play, gather, and throw away all your constant worries and nervous tension about the upcoming exam or anything that bug your body, mind and soul. Come and join us with other CSS members for fun and laughter, meet new people, and more.

Previously the date was set on 30th September, but due to some technical problem, we're unbale to make it for that date. But don't be bothered with that cancellation, because we'll be having the family day on 4th of October 2008, it's this coming Saturday!!!!

Where? It's at Taman Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam or known as Bukit Cerakah, not Bukit Neraka ah. So, anyone who haven't been to Bukit Cerakah, come and take this opportunity and visit the monkeys. Here's some info I found in Selangor's Web, "Malaysian Agricultural Park , the only agro-forestry park around, is located in Shah Alam and the rain forest spans up to 1290 hectre".

Ya it cost only RM 5.00, including transport, entrance and breakfast, lunch and tea break. How cheap ah. You can pay the fee to Decimus, he's in charge of the registration, or to any CSS Exco you know.

So, apa tunggu lagi daftar la.
